Mag. Dr. Alexander Pretsch, BSc.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Alexander Pretsch, born 1977, is CEO of SeaLife since founding the company in 2008. Dr. Pretsch holds a degree in marine biology, biomedicine and biotechnology. He has more than 20 years of experience with marine organisms, is lecturer at the University of Applied Science in Krems/Austria, consultant for international companies and an experienced company founder. He is the legal representative of SeaLife and responsible for administration, investor relations and official representation of the company.

Ing. Andreas Krems

Chief Financial and Operational Officer

Ing. Andreas Krems, born 1964, has a business management history spanning over 20 years within various industries. His background in counselling and consultancy has led to various operative roles including Deputy Managing Director and Commercial Director in the financial and technical industry. In his last role as Business Consultant and Head of Group CRM Strategy for a corporate group in The Netherlands, Mr. Krems was entrusted with supporting 30 countries world-wide in their strategic development. At SeaLife, Mr. Krems is authorized representative and responsible for Business Development, the economic setup and Finance & Administration.

Univ. Prof. DDr. Apostolos Georgopoulos

Chief Scientific Officer – screening and development

Univ. Prof. DDr. Apostolos Georgopoulos, born 1941, has a degree in human and veterinarian medicine and headed the microbiology department at the Medical University in Vienna/AUT until 2007. Before that, he headed the department of development at Sandoz in Vienna/AUT for more than 12 years. His experience in the research and development of novel anti-infective substances has led to more than 400 publications and valuable patent, his academic and industrial background turned him into a leading expert in the field of antibiotics. At SeaLife he supervises the screening and defines the development strategy for novel drug candidates.

Univ. Prof. Dr. Jörg Ott

Chief Scientific Officer – marin

Univ. Prof. Dr. Jörg Ott, born 1942, is one of the leading marine ecologists in Europe and headed the marine biology department at the University of Vienna/AUT for more than twenty years. Between 1985 and 2004 he was Editor-in-Chief of the journal PSZN: Marine Ecology. His main field of scientific research is marine ecology, with a focus on benthic systems, sea grass meadows, mangroves, sulphide habitats, meiofauna and symbioses between bacteria and animals. With his experience and his worldwide marine network, he is responsible for identifying promising compounds according to the Ecotargeting approach and for new substance supply.

Univ. Prof. Dr. Heinz Burgmann

Chief Clinical Officer

Univ. Prof. Dr. Heinz Burgmann, born 1964, holds a degree in human medicine, is leading scientist in the department of Internal Medicine I, Div. of Infectious Diseases at the Medical University of Vienna/AUT and is Austria’s chief expert for resistant microbes. With his research activities and his involvement in several clinical studies, he has gained a comprehensive knowledge in clinical development, with more than 100 publications. His access to leading pharmaceutical companies, his consultancy role for Wyeth, Intercell and Baxter, and his knowledge about current resistances, will focus our activities on the most attractive business opportunities.
